Wrapping up Summer Reading in Style
By scottcampbell | August 14, 2008
Thanks to Michael Sullivan and the Keurig Company, we wrapped up a great summer of reading in style yesterday! Sullivan gave juggling lessons, read from his brand-new book, and let each child sample a hot chocolate from the coolest coffee-maker ever! It was our final day of Summer Reading 2008, and the first appearance of Sullivan’s long-awaited new book in print: Escapade Johnson and the Coffee Shop of the Living Dead.
The Newington School Supporters purchased copies of the new book (published locally by Publishing Works of Exeter) for all the kids at the school. The Portsmouth Herald helped spread the word with a write-up on Tuesday. And the Friends of the Langdon Library brought a cake, aptly inscribed “Good Job Summer Readers!” Special thanks to the Seacoast YMCA’s Camp Newington and all the great kids who came to the library every Wednesday — you’re why we do what we do! Don’t wait ’til next summer, come on in and see us again soon!
