Have you done your taxes yet?

By scottcampbell | March 29, 2009

This time of year, even our most leisurely browsing patrons tend to come into the library in a state of panic with a wild look in their eyes as they nervously ask, “Do you have tax forms?!”   Well, since we’re a very small library, we don’t get a regular delivery of boxes of forms; however, every schedule, form, and publication you may need can be found online at the IRS web site.  If you’re on your own computer, make sure you have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed so you can download the forms.  Or simply come down here and we’ll print whatever you need for you (a dime a page).  If you have NH-specific tax issues, check out the New Hampshire Department of Revenue Administration web site.

Also note that there’s help — real-life help from actual people — available to you.  In addition to H&R Block or your CPA, the AARP does a great job with tax returns.  We don’t really have the space at our library, but they’re stationed at libraries all over the area.  They’re IRS-trained experts with the latest software, and they’ll file everything you need online, free-of-charge.  The best part, you don’t even have to be retired to use them… I know, because I have them do my taxes every year!  Here’s where you can find them:

Call 800-905-4730 if you need an appointment or have other questions, and good luck!
