Home Movies of Louis de Rochemont

November 15, 2017 Written by Lara Croft

Join us for a film starting at 6, light refreshment and discussion afterward.

Keene State College houses the personal film archive of the
Academy award winning producer Louis de Rochemont (1899-1978). The
archive includes 500 reels of film from the producer’s work on
some of his feature length productions, film elements from The
March of Time, and his education-related films. Of particular
interest is a set of home movies on nitrate stock. The National
Film Preservation Foundation awarded the College two grants to
preserve and convert these home movies into a digital format. The
presentation will discuss the significance and benefit of the home
movies for regional scholarship.

Keene State Film Professor Larry Benaquist and assistant archivist and film archivist Zachary Giroux will lead a discussion after the film and Rodney Obien, Head of Special Collections & Archives at the Wallace E. Mason Library at Keene State College will introduce the program.
