About your Director

April 26, 2015 Written by Lara Berry

Hello, Newington!

Thank you for welcoming me to the Langdon Library. A little about your director: I have recently held positions at the Newmarket Public Library and the Plaistow Public Library. However, my first library position was in the small town of Rumney, NH. While pursuing a Masters in Education at Plymouth State University, I worked at Byron G. Merrill Library in Rumney and fell in love with library work. After I completed my degree, I relocated to southern NH and worked in local libraries for the last five years, until becoming director here.

I see libraries as educational, cultural community centers. In every library position I’ve held, I’ve helped develop and improve programming, outreach, and access to technology, and I am happy to have continued that trend in Newington. I currently serve as President of the Information Technology section of the New Hampshire Library Association, and am pursuing a Masters of Library and Information Sciences program with a focus in Leadership and Management at San Jose State University. I believe in continuing my education and professional development to ensure that our library’s service is the best we can provide.

Looking forward to seeing you at the library!

Lara
